Assembly instructions

Congratulations on your new RR Oil Temperature Direct Indicator®!

You have purchased a high-quality product manufactured in Germany. To ensure long-lasting enjoyment, we have put together clear instructions for installation and care below.

1. Installation of the Direct Indicator

  • Replacing the RR Oil Temperature Direct Indicator®
Simply replace the existing oil filler cap or dipstick on your motorcycle with the RR Oil Temperature Direct Indicator®. Make sure that the temperature sensor does not come into contact with engine components inside the engine.

  • Oil level marking:
If you wish to add a marking to check the oil level filling height, please do not use pliers or other heavy tools. Instead, use a small metal file or a similar tool, as the dipstick is hollow and could be damaged by excessive pressure.

2. Cleaning and Care of the Direct Indicator

  • Cleaning:
The direct indicator can be cleaned easily, just like your motorcycle, using standard motorcycle cleaners and a sponge.

  • Caution during cleaning:
Avoid using steam cleaners or excessively strong water jets, as these could damage the device.

3. Important Notes on Functionality and Care

  • Oil damping:
All thermometers are filled with oil to provide better damping. The air bubble inside serves to compensate for pressure changes caused by thermal fluctuations. On devices or motorcycle models where the oil dipstick does not reach into the oil, the temperature reading may deviate by 0° to 40°C, depending on the engine block, splash oil, and the geometry of the oil channels.

  • Makrolon viewing window:
The viewing window of the indicator is made of Makrolon and is not resistant to gasoline. If the viewing window comes into contact with gasoline during refueling, rinse it immediately with plenty of water. A cloudy lens can be polished clear again using car polish.

  • Alignment of the indicator:
If the RR Oil Temperature Direct Indicator® is ever misaligned, you can easily correct it by gently lifting or pressing it into the correct position. By rotating the thermometer using a leather glove or similar item, the thermometer can be turned to the desired position regardless of the position of the aluminum adapter with the thread.

  • Adapter maintenance:
If the indicator becomes loose when used with an adapter, replace the O-rings in the aluminum housing using our RR 999 sealing kit, which you can conveniently order from our online shop by specifying your RR Oil Temperature Direct Indicator® or your motorcycle model. During reinstallation, the thermometer pin and the O-rings in the adapter must not come into contact with oil or grease under any circumstances.

With these installation instructions, the installation and care of your RR Oil Temperature Direct Indicator® should be straightforward. We wish you lots of enjoyment and safe rides with your high-quality product!
